So, who am I?
A lifelong communicator, the written word is by far my favorite means to connect with people.
I’ve come a long way since penning my first non-fiction work at age seven, Ticks, Ticks, and More Ticks. The years have taken me from staple-bound books to children’s historical fiction.
You may have seen some of my goods in Kitchens & Baths, Global Living Magazine, The Xpat Journal, WOW Women on Writing, and The Holland Times.
There’s also my expat blog Clogs and Tulips: An American in Holland, which won a couple of pretty sweet awards. I’ve had guest posts on a bunch of really awesome blogs and I also do blogging work for some seriously cool clients.
Every now and then, I get my Dutch-to-English translation on, working on everything from children’s books to nursing systems for publishing houses, home care agencies, private clients, and anyone else looking to cash in on the hot trend of having their content translated into American English.
What kicks some major tushy about what I do is the number of fascinating people I’ve been able to meet: World War II Veterans, sportsmen, architects, performers, artists, healthcare professionals… I don’t have enough appendages to count them all!
Besides, how many people get listen to Three Dog Night or take an archery class and call it work? No matter how you look at it, my job just plain rocks!
I believe everyone should have the chance to live their dream. After all, why have one if you’re not going to act on it?
I’ve found a way to live my dream of making a living doing what I love while being able to stay at home with my daughter. I’m grateful every day for this gift and I want to help others live their dreams by helping them tell their story.
In past lives I was a pageant girl, a harpist, a choreographer, a singer, and an actress. I may call the Netherlands home, but I’m still a Maryland gal at heart.
Tell me… What’s the word, hummingbird?
